The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) has an excellent opportunity for an ITS Operations Engineer at the Traffic Management Center (TMC) in Tacoma.
You will be responsible for providing technical support to the WSDOT Olympic Region TMC and the region’s Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), which include FLOW operations, ramp counters, variable message signs, Highway Advisory Radio, toll operations, and movable bridge supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems.
This role requires an in-depth and broad knowledge of transportation operations. Because the decisions made directly affect the safety and flow of traffic on state highways and adjacent arterial road systems, this position necessitates a high level of independent judgment and decision-making.
The ITS Engineer position is critical to fostering an inclusive and healthy work environment in which all employees are challenged to act respectfully and professionally. Our ideal candidate will have prior experience working in the field and will be able to perform a variety of duties in accordance with WSDOT standards.
The right person should be able to prioritize tasks and edit documents quickly, as well as ensure that the work is done correctly and efficiently.
